History

In 1920, the Kuay (pronounced Q-A) was opened in what is now the Marqueen Hotel. The facility was used to retrain local blacksmiths to work at the new Ford assembly plant on Lake Union. Later named Marqueen Garage, then considered the largest single garage in the city, operated as a school and a working garage for over 50 years. In 1976 the garage was moved up Queen Anne hill to it's current location. Serving the surrounding neighborhood with honest, quality auto repair has been the Marqueen's mission for now nearly a century.

Meet Nate the Owner

Nate has been in and around vehicles beginning at a very young age. From tractors and trucks to ATVs and race cars; he has seen it, driven or handled most things that have or can have an engine attached. Nate first learned to drive at the tender age of six behind the wheel of a Toyota pickup on his parents farm. When that truck crashed or broke down, a team of highly trained backyard mechanics came to it's aid with wrenches and screwdrivers and the occasional hammer, and sometimes a bigger hammer.
Having been shown the ropes, Nate brought this knowledge to Bellingham Technical College and attained a degree in Automotive Technology at the age of seventeen. Graduating from Meridian High School and BTC respectively, Nate has since been pursuing his goals of small business ownership.
In 2007, Nate responded to a Craigslist Jobs posting and moved to Seattle. He now resides in Shoreline with his wife and son Arlo. In May of 2016, the family took ownership of this historic institution in the heart of Queen Anne.
